I design, build and fix websites.

Just me. You talk to the person doing the work. Most sites I see grew like a weed instead of a manicured garden. I figure out what's wrong and sort it out.

Would someone land on your site and know what
to do in under 10 seconds?1

"Users often leave Web pages in 10–20 seconds, but pages with a clear value proposition can hold people's attention for much longer", says the Nielsen Norman Group, leaders in user experience (UX) research.

Before: South County School of Performing Arts homepage
The old homepage: a scrolling phone-number ticker, pill-shaped nav buttons, and a boxed title with an Enroll Now button. On wider screens it is marked up in red pen: strike the ticker and put the phone number there, simplify the nav choices, pull classes out, add a background behind the image text, and move the Enroll Now ask later.
After: proposed redesign (concept)
The proposed homepage redesign: one clear nav bar, a welcome headline, and a Find a class or lesson button.

At South County School of Performing Arts

Everything was important: music, theatre, dance, private lessons and events. After some healthy back and forth with the founder, we found the core of what SCSPA offers (their value proposition): classes.

We also found who the site is really for: busy parents. Putting classes first and building around what parents need to do turns a site that listed everything into a clear path to signing up.
